FAQs
What is it like to work with you, Beth Anne?
I strive to create an experience for your pelvic healing that is calm and collaborative. I like to say that "I don't work with bodies...I work with people." Your physical body and messages are rightly the basis for our work together. However, the life lived in that body matters deeper and factors into how you experience life, pain, safety, and peace in that body. There is no one-size-fits all. There are research studies, principles, and holistic concepts that guide our work together, and ultimately, I do my best to listen to you and your body in facilitating the removing of obstacles to your healing process. I know that many appreciate this way of working, but not every person will, which is great! I require that we have a phone chat to help us discover if we are a good fit. If not, I have many great colleagues in the Denver area and would be happy to provide you with a few options that may better fit your way of working or situation. You can schedule that here.
Do I have to receive an internal exam/ treatment?
If you have been to pelvic health physical therapy before, you know that this examination is usually included when investigating certain pelvic health issues. If you have not been to pelvic health physical therapy before, an internal vaginal exam and treatment, which includes the insertion of one practitioner digit with proper universal precautions including cleanliness and the use of nitrile exam gloves (no latex) can be helpful in understanding the structures and tissues that may be influencing your issue, whether it be pelvic pain, bladder leaking, prolapse, and others.
That being said, I have many people in my practice that do not want to start there, or want to try to treat their bodies with all of the external options available first and that is completely fine! It is my job to fully inform you regarding if this exam/ treatment method will be of-service to you in your healing path. And, that said, I greatly value what I call "continuous consent." This means that I take great care to inform you every step of the way as I touch your body, whether inside or outside, and give you the choice to tell me when it's OK, when to pause, stop, or not do something.

Can I work with you if I am experiencing my period bleeding?
The answer to this depends on the individual. Most of the time, in my practice, I choose to not perform maya abdominal, viscerofascial osteopathy, or internal work during your period. Depending on where we are in your treatment plan, I usually have people reschedule their appointment. On occasion, we may be working through period pain or other symptoms in a particular way and working during this time can be beneficial. I will inform you if this is the case for you and we can always decided together. If for any reason this does not feel supportive for you, we can re-schedule.
Can I work with you if I have an IUD?
Again, this also depends on your particular situation. If you intend to work with uterine massage, uterine and associated organ-fascial-based manual therapies, or have an issue that would be responsive to these therapies, the answer is no. The potential for dislodgement or perforation is small, but a risk that I am unwilling to take with you. However, if our work together is based on an issue that is more pelvic floor-based, such as many post-partum challenges, there are many things that can still be addressed as long as your IUD is not causing you any symptoms.
Do you take my insurance?
In order to provide you with the highest level of care possible, with a greater variety of options, and longer sessions to support your body in healing, the short answer is no. I understand that this can be off-putting to many. However, as a physical therapist with 18+ years of experience, 15 of which were in the insurance-based healthcare system, I observed how this system repeatedly removed agency and empowerment from both the clinician and the patient. Insurance-based systems dictate care in ways they were never meant to. I choose to not try to fit myself and my work into a box that is too small to hold anything of meaning for the truly holistic healing path.
I accept cash, checks, HSA, and FSA funds due in-full at the time of service. I can provide super bills at your request which you can submit to your insurance provider to see if they will apply your out-of-pocket costs to your deductible or provide partial reimbursement. I am not able to provide any communication directly with your insurance provider in order to maintain my high quality of care and status as an "uncovered entity."
My hourly rate is $100/hr, and I require 90 minutes for the initial session ($150) and 75 minutes for follow-up sessions ($125). I do my best to be modest with equipment, rental fees, my support services, etc so that I can keep my rates reasonable for everyone. If you have any questions about this, you are most welcome to contact me.

Do you take Medicare and Medicaid?
I have no relationship with Medicard/ Medicaid and therefore do not participate in Medicare or Medicaid programs. I unable to work with people who hold these for their insurances benefits to provide physical therapy services.
Do you work with male bodies?
I am trained in a variety of skills in the conventional and holistic pelvic health arenas. To-date, all of my training has focused on the anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and energetics of the female body. It is not my intention to exclude male bodies, only to share that male body pelvic health is its own specialty with its own training, and I have not pursued this training at this time. That said, male bodies experience pelvic health challenges too! I have some amazing colleagues in the male pelvic health PT space and would love to connect you if you need a recommendation.
